Bringing Sonification to a Museum

Holly's experience provides an example of a good way of bringing STEREO sonification into museums and engaging a public audience with STEREO science.
Holly Cave, a content developer at the UK's Science Museum in London, organized an event based aruond the STEREO mission and the associated Spectro sonificaiton software. Her goal for this event was to integrate artistic and musical emphases into STEREO science.
At a workshop-styled evening exhibit, a large group of attendants (including many artists and musicians) used laptops set up with Spectro software and listened as physicists described the science behind sonification.
The event was really successful. It had high attendance and stimulated thoughful discussions among particpants. Many participants were very interested and enjoyed the way the event brought together artistic and musical elements with science.
