Science Education Standards and Benchmarks

• Project 2061 - An initiative of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to reach a basic level of science literacy for all Americans by the year 2061 (the year of return of Halley's Comet). The initiative has published  important and influential works such as Science for All Americans and Benchmarks for Science Literacy.
• National Science Education Standards - Science Education Standards for Teaching, Professional Development, Assessment, Content, Programs, and Systems developed by the National Research Council. These standards were influenced by the AAAS Project 2061 and served as the basis for most state science education standards.
