HOT GAS --- "A Way Cool Subject"
WHAT'S OUT THERE?
The Universe is more than just planets, stars and galaxies
~10% of the mass of our Galaxy is in the form of GAS
The average density of the (H) atoms of the ISM is very, very low-------typically only about 1 atom per cm3 (or ~100 atoms in every coffee cup!)
This gas (the “interstellar medium” --ISM) is all around us and has temperatures of between ~ 20K to 20 Million K ( very Hot Gas!)
