Eyes In The Sky
Middle or high school students who are taking industrial technology classes (Itech students) will use technology to learn about orbiting spacecraft designed to study astronomical objects.
Key Questions
1. What are the different types of electromagnetic radiation?
2. What current NASA missions are using orbiting spacecraft?
Learning Objectives
1. Students will know the name and locate, on a diagram of the light spectrum, the different types of electromagnetic radiation?
2. Students will use the world wide web to research current Space Transportation System (STS) Missions.
3. Students will know how to build and launch a rocket out of paper and tape and launch it within 5 ft. of a pre-defined target.

Student Activities
Students, using the web, will research the different types of NASA missions, in space, using orbiting spacecraft. Students will learn the basics of Space Transportation Systems (STS) and construct their own rocket based on their learned knowledge in this lesson.
Student Prerequisites
Students are recommended to complete The Great Satellite Search lesson
Assessment
In an oral or written presenation students will describe the science principals used to build and launch their rocket. Students can refer to their research notes on STS’s.
