- The
satellite dish pictured here is from a Transportable Orbital
Tracking Station (TOTS) such as the one which recieves transmissions in Alaska
or at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility.
- Once the snapshots reach Wallops Island, they are sent to the Packet Processing
Center at Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. The snapshots are sorted by type and ordered in time. Any duplicates
or untrustworthy packets are removed; the rest are sent to the SOC in Berkeley.
- When these data packets arrive at the SOC, the snapshots are cut into CD-Rom format
and posted on the web for scientists and researchers to use.
