A
conventional telescope mirror (top), for example the type of mirror found
in a Newtonian telescope, is able to focus visible light quite efficiently.
However, this type of telescope would absorb the energetic EUV radiation.
Extreme Ultraviolet waves can be brought into focus through reflection
if they strike mirrors at sufficiently steep angles. Specialized telescopes,
like those aboard the EUVE Satellite, which reflect EUV light at steep
angles, are called grazing incidence telescopes (bottom). |
