Biographical Sketch: James Meunier MS, ATC
Mr. Meunier is the Honors Earth Science instructor at Highland Springs High School in Highland Springs, Virginia. He has been teaching there for the past 20 years. A graduate of Pittsfield High School, he attended Berkshire Community College in the heart of the Berkshires.
Mr. Meunier received a Bachelors of Science Degree from The University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1978 and was awarded a Masters of Science Degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University in 1985. His biography is published in the fifth edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 1998.
Former science department chairman, he currently serves as the computer and technology committee chairman for the High Schools That Work project. Mr. Meunier is also a Certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and a Registered member of the Virginia Athletic Trainers Association. He serves as athletic trainer for the 17 sports offered at Highland Springs High. In 1994, he was named Master Teacher by the (NTTI) National Teacher Training Institute for Math, Science and Technology program sponsored by CPB, Texaco, Central Virginia Public Broadcasting and WCVE 23.
Currently the webmaster for his school's Web site, he is an avid telecommunication and technology user. He was the sponsor of both the CyberSurfari and ThinkQuest teams at HSHS. He is also a member of the Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE), and completed certification as a VSTE Internet Trainer in January 1997. Mr. Meunier completed the 12 hour workshop "Integrating technology: making it work in the classroom" in February, 1998. He has authored and published two Interactive Internet science lessons for the Science Museum of Virginia sponsored by the University of California - Berkeley, NASA, and the National Science Foundation. Mr. Meunier, has 10 brothers and sisters, is happily married to Kathleen Mary Meunier . He has two daughters, Jennifer and Jessica, and step-son, Anthony. Jim is also a member of:
