Pin-Hole Box
Strategy
-
Find a cardboard box big enough to put your head into. (The bigger the better.)
-
Use a pin to make a hole in the middle of one side of the box.
- Tape a white paper onto the inside of the box on the side opposite the hole.
- Put your back to the sun. Put your head inside the box and fix the box so that the pinhole is behind you.
-
Move your head out of the way and let the light
from the sun come through the tiny pin hole and fall onto the piece of paper.
- The dot of light that you see from the sun will be very small unless your box is huge and the distance between pinhole and your paper screeen is large.
- At any rate, you will be able to safely view the image of the sun.
