Robert Lee - Solid State Telescope Description

Robert Lee, mechanical engineer, describes the solid state telescope instrument. The solid state detector is used to measure charged particles moving very fast, with energies greater than about 30-300 keV. He explains the purpose of the attenuator, a piece of metal that moves mechanically away from and in-front of the hole where the particles can enter the instrument.
