TYPES OF LIGHT

Objective: Find names of light types hidden in puzzle. They can go up, down, or across in either direction.

Word search puzzle imageSee how many different types of light you can find as you travel through the Light Tour. There are the names of seven types of light hidden in this puzzle. You can start by finding the light type that corresponds to your angstrom entry, on the left.

Our knowledge about distant stars, planets, solar systems, and galaxies comes from studying the light they emit. When astronomers speak of "light" from stars and galaxies, they include more than just the type of light you see with your eyes. For scientific purposes, different types of light are given different names.

For more help with finding the names, try browsing this Light Tour Gallery, which will open up a second WWW browser window for you. Look for the words Second Window at the top. Don't close it, because you'll be using the second browser window as you go through this light tour!

One kind of light that scientists have learned a lot from recently is missing from this puzzle. See if you can figure out from the gallery which light is missing from the puzzle.
